Welcome to the Captain's Blog

Welcome to the Captain's Blog — dispatches from the Emma Nalani, our 41-foot Bertram six-pack sport fishing yacht, straight from the dock at Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor. This is where we share the stories you won't see on the trip pages — like the day a 400-lb Pacific Blue took four hours to land, or the morning a pod of whales surfaced next to the boat, or the first-time angler who hooked her first ahi before breakfast. If the Emma Nalani has been fishing that week, you'll find the story here.

Here's what the Captain's Blog is about:

  • The catches. Trophy fish, lucky days, the ones that got away, and the weekly bite report.
  • The people. Guests, crew, local legends, and the characters who make Kauai's fishing scene what it is.
  • The island. Seasonal fishing patterns, weather, Hawaiian fishing tradition, and why Kauai is different.
  • The boat. Stories from the Emma Nalani, tackle reviews, maintenance updates, and life on the dock.

Fishing is a story-telling sport — every charter produces one — and the Captain's Blog is where we tell them: honestly, specifically, and full of aloha. Usually with a few photos of fish that are bigger than the anglers.
