Aloha, and there's nothing quite like first light over Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor. The trade winds are still soft and the Haupu ridge is turning pink in the east while the Emma Nalani, our 41-foot six-pack sport fishing yacht, idles at the dock with your crew waiting to welcome you aboard. That's how every half-day fishing charter Kauai run begins — with the quiet and the cool air and the anticipation of what the morning has in store.
You check in at 5:30 AM, grab a coffee, meet your captain, and get the morning briefing, and by 6:00 AM sharp we're idling past the breakwater with the sun coming up over the Pacific. Kauai wakes up fast, and so does the fishing.
Here's what a Kauai half-day fishing trip on the Garden Isle looks like:
Four hours goes quick when a reel starts screaming and your crew is hollering to set the hook, and a 4-hour fishing charter Kauai Hawaii trip is the perfect window to feel what these waters can do. Fast, exciting, and unforgettable — the way our tagline promises.
This is also our beginner pick — an affordable trip for first-timers and families. If you want a longer day on the water, check out the three-quarter-day fishing charter or the full-day.
Every half-day fishing charter on the Emma Nalani runs one of two ways: you either book the whole boat for your ohana (private), or you grab a seat and fish alongside other anglers (shared). The Emma Nalani is a six-pack charter — the USCG term for a six-passenger sport fishing boat and the legal max for any licensed charter in Hawaiian waters. Regardless of which you pick, you get the same boat, the same captain, and the same Kauai water.
Book the whole boat for your group. One flat rate — no per-person math, no strangers on deck. Your day, your energy, your morning on the water.
Book your seat, fish alongside fellow anglers, and split the experience. Same boat, same fishing grounds — just a few new faces on deck who love fishing as much as you do.
For groups of three or more, a private half-day fishing charter almost always works out cheaper per head — and you get the whole boat to yourselves. Couples and solo travelers usually come out better on a shared charter, and there's a good chance you'll walk off the dock with new friends who also caught a mahi. See all trip types for comparison.
Gina has owned and operated Go Fish Kauai since 2014, which makes this the only woman-owned fishing charter on the island. She's a local, her crew is local, and every guest gets treated like ohana from the moment you step on the deck. A half-day fishing charter with us isn't a transaction — it's a morning on the water with people who love this place and want you to love it too.
A quarter mile from shore the ocean floor drops a thousand feet — we're trolling right after we leave the harbor. No long boat ride eating up your morning. Just fast action and more time with your lines in the water.
Step aboard the Emma Nalani — our 41-foot Bertram Sport Fishing Yacht with twin turbo diesel engines, spacious indoor and outdoor seating, a 16-foot flybridge with panoramic coastline views, and a private flushing restroom.
Our seasoned crew knows the best fishing spots and exactly where to find the island's most sought-after big game fish. See what we catch, including mahi mahi, Pacific Blue Marlin, Ahi yellowfin tuna, Ono (wahoo), and Aku skipjack tuna.
When you book with us, you book directly with Gina — the owner, by name, from her home on the Garden Isle. The island has several fishing charters. Only one is run by a wahine who has lived here for decades. Read more about the operation.
Daily deep sea fishing charters depart at 6:00 AM from Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor. All you need to bring is your food and drinks for the day — large coolers, ice, fishing tackle, and gear are already on board. We welcome seasoned anglers and those with no previous fishing experience, and our daily morning briefing covers everything you need to be ready for that first bite. This island offers access to some of the best offshore natural fishing grounds in all of Hawaii.
You can cancel for free more than 5 days out. Inside 5 days (or no-show) is a full charge. Captain weather cancellations are always free.
Fishing vessels don't offer stable footing. If you have any underlying medical issues, physical restrictions, or limitations that affect your ability to stand, walk, or brace yourself on a moving boat, please contact Gina@GoFishKauai.com before you book. We can't accommodate pregnancies, recent surgeries, or keiki under 8.
Book your half-day charter online or call Gina directly at 808-652-4556 for same-day or next-day bookings. She'll answer, tell you what's biting, and get you squared away in five minutes. Mahalo for choosing Go Fish Kauai.
We'll see you at the dock. 6 AM sharp.
